Ventura Transfer Company Received Second Place For Best
Overall Safety Record From The California Trucking Association
LONG BEACH, Calif. - June 2004 -
Ventura Transfer Company, the pioneer of bulk handling and transportation
in California, was honored at the California Trucking Association’s
(CTA) annual Fleet Safety Awards Banquet on June 16, 2004 in Sacramento,
CA. Ventura Transfer Company was awarded second place in the CTA’s
2003 Fleet Safety Contest.
Ventura Transfer Company entered in the “Under 2 million mile
Truckload” category. VTC’s dry bulk operations competed
with all the truckload carriers. The Fleet Safety Awards are given
to companies with the lowest accident frequency in an entire year.
Ventura Transfer Company had zero accidents in 2003.
“When you have your priorities in-line, it shows in the work
that you do,” said Brian Oken, CEO of VTC. “We are proud
to be recognized for our commitment to safe and professional driving.”

A special committee made up of government and regulatory agency
representatives selects the winning carriers from among the CTA-member
entrants’ after a review of their records. The criteria used
to determine a carrier’s safety record include company safety
policies; hiring and training procedures for drivers; frequency
and review of incidents; and fleet maintenance. |
